After a weekend off, NASCAR Sprint Cup teams will be heading to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400. NASCAR teams began competing at the infamous 2 ½ mile track in 1994. The race has become a highlight in the Sprint Cup Series season schedule.

The Wood Brothers and Bill Elliott are looking forward to bringing the #21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion to Indy this weekend. The Wood Brothers have competed in 14 of the 15 Sprint Cup races held at Indy, twice finishing in the top ten. Former NASCAR Champion Bill Elliott has also competed in 14 of the 15 Indianapolis Sprint Cup races winning the event in 2002 and finishing in the top ten an incredible 9 times.

Teams will take to the track on Friday, July 24th for two practices with qualifying and two more practices scheduled for Saturday, July 25th. The race is scheduled for Sunday, July 26th, with live trackside coverage

I hope they have a great weekend!!!!! Very Happy

Good luck! Very Happy If they are as fast as they have been, they won't have any problems making the race.

3rd in first practice - looking very good!! Smile

Update: Fast again in second practice. Unfortunately, the go or go homers go last in qualifying and that will be a serious disadvantage for Bill and the 21 team. Won't be able to go for a top-10, but a top-25 may still be in reach. I think they would have a shot at 3rd-5th if they had a decent qualifying draw.

After a four hour rain delay, Indy qualifying is finally over. Bill picked up over three tenths of a second from practice running a 49.90 second lap. He qualified 4th for tomorrow's Brickyard 400. When asked about the lap, Bill stated, "I just tried to run a smooth lap. The car ran real well. Hyder and the guys did a heck of a job preparing the car."

Mark Martin earned the pole with a lap time of 49.44 seconds.

WTG Mr Elliott!!!!! Very Happy
Hope they have a great finish tomorrow.
