Speaking of McMurray, could he be in a Yates car next year after all? What former original Yates employees are saying is they would prefer McMurray over Elliott Sadler ...

Richard Petty said Saturday that "the deal being with Dodge was not for us" in regards to the latest decision to align with Ford where the company will have increased factory support and share in the revenue earmarked for Yates. Petty was adamant that "it's not a done deal yet" and added that the partner with most financial resources would likely have the most control ...

McMurray isn't much better, but he is a little step in the right direction

McMurray to replace Sadler in 2010?: could Jamie McMurray be in a Yates Racing car [Richard Petty Motorsports team that Yates merged with] next year after all? Former original Yates employees are saying is they would prefer McMurray over #19-Elliott Sadler.(FoxSports)(9-13-2009)

I think that's funny! Of course Yate's prefers McMurry over Sadler seeing that they didn't part on good terms. Why would they want him back? Shocked

I'd tell them to go for it if they want to put Jamie in the 19! He'd definitely be an improvement over the current driver. McMurray may end up at RPM? Yates may still have control? Icon_wink

I think the main problem with both is they care more about their salary than performance.

Sponsors have such a big say and Sadler (like Waltrip) is a sponsor favorite. He can run dead last each week and he'll still get his time on the camera, be on trackside, etc...

Whatever Elliott has in his contract for not being fired is pretty dang good.

You are dead on. Kinda sad tho. Sponsors need to open their eyes. At one time I liked Mikey, that was until his mouth got in the way. Now he is just plain annoying. I've always thought Sadler was annoying. Both of them need to shut up and drive. Razz

Sadler needs to follow in Mikey's footsteps and go towards retirement from Cup. McMurray may end up at RPM? Yates may still have control? Icon_wink

I like Mikey ... I think he's hilarious. Sure, he's not a great driver, but I still think he's funny. When I go to the track, I will always scan by his channel once in a while to see what he has to say. That's a really good laugh sometimes!!

If Michael wasn't constantly mentioning sponsors during broadcasts like the Truck race, it would be fine. But the constant promotion during a race where you're supposed to be an impartial person happens all the time. That's my biggest gripe about him. He is a much better owner than he is a driver though.

The little interjections of Aarons or NAPA comments during the truck races are kind of entertaining to me... I know a lot of people think otherwise, but I like Mikey being the sponsor-driven person he is...

Yeah, I think he is funny as well. He's a good guy, I was just leaning towards the fact that he is doing the right thing by turning his ride over to Truex. It should help MWR turn into an even more competitive team, and Mikey sure knows how to run it well. He's a much better owner than driver.
