Ben Leslie signed as crew chief for Kvapil

CONCORD, N.C. - Despite several changes at Yates Racing, Travis Kvapil is set to return behind the wheel for the organization.

The 2003 Craftsman Truck Series (now Camping World Truck Series) champion has been confirmed for at least five NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in the No. 28 Yates Ford in 2009.

Former Ford field manager Ben Leslie will serve as Kvapil's crew chief this season.

Kvapil, 32, captured one pole and four top-10 finishes last season.

Earlier this week, Yates officials announced that they merged with Hall of Fame Racing. As a result, HoF's Bobby Labonte and new Yates driver Paul Menard will inherit the owner points earned by Kvapil and David Gilliland last year - so Kvapil will have to qualify on time for each of his five starts.

Confirmed for the first five ... sure hope they keep running after that. Looks like around late March/early April, we could be very low on car counts... lots of teams planning the first few races and then "re-evaluating".

Leslie.... wasn't that Rudd's CC in 2004? He was horrible.
I remember Ricky's comment about him.... Something about them never being on the same page.
He felt like they talked 2 different languages. Poor Kvapil. Maybe things will work out better for him.

Mark Martin had one of his worst seasons with Ben Leslie as a CC, and then Ricky had him... sure hope it works better for TK... (but I doubt it )

He doesn't have a good record. There has to be someone better that can fill that position.

Maybe somehow Travis can make it work.
