- CONCORD, N.C. -- Road-course specialist Boris Said will drive the No. 09 Ford at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 8, a one-off start in place for rookie John Wes Townley.
Said, who has six Nationwide Series starts at The Glen, including one top-five finish and two top-10s, will be making his debut for RAB Racing at the 2.45-mile road course.
Said, touted a perennial "road course ringer," has helped other notable drivers such as Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick.
Townley, a rookie of the year contender, has one start on a road course, finishing 18th in an ARCA Series race at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2008.
A native of Watkinsville, Ga., he has three top-20 finishes and seven top-25s this season and is 25th in points.
In preparation for the Watkins Glen race, RAB Racing is testing at Road Atlanta with both Said and Townley. While at the 2.54-mile road course Said will help Townley with road-course racing technique in a two-seater car. ~NASCAR.com | |
