Dyno Testing after Mich. Empty
PostSubject: Dyno Testing after Mich.   Dyno Testing after Mich. EmptyTue Aug 18, 2009 6:27 am

(By Reid Spencer, Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service)

BROOKLYN, Mich.—NASCAR is taking the engines from the following cars to its research-and-development center in Concord, N.C., for testing on a dynamometer, an instrument that measures horsepower: the Chevrolets of Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer and Juan Pablo Montoya; the Toyotas of Vickers, David Reutimann and Denny Hamlin; the Dodges of Sam Hornish Jr. and Elliott Sadler; and the Fords of Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle.

Periodic dyno testing of engines is standard operating procedure for the sanctioning body.

Would of preferred Nascar checking the 48 instead of the 24. Golly Gee who knows what they might have found LOL

Andrew ,how long before we get the results? If I remenber correctly( which would be a miracle) the last time the test was taken ,didn't Edwards have the highest or second to the highest. Now that FORD will be coming in with a New Engine , expect some changes to make sure Ford Engine don't outperform the other mfg. In fact thats when they had that last Dyno insp , after the owners and the drivers complained about Toy's H/P. Nascar has now started talking about Fuel Injection again.
hmmmm

SUBJECT: FUEL INJECTION COMING TO NASCAR?

Fuel Injection coming to NASCAR?: When NASCAR Sprint Cup director John Darby, a few weeks ago, raised the issue of ’fuel injected’ racing engines in NASCAR, it raised eyebrows. NASCAR Cup engines are some of the most technically advanced engines in racing, except for the antique carburetors. Every other major form of racing, even ASA, uses fuel injected engines. NASCAR has long shied away from things electronically complicated like electronic fuel injection, for fear with goodly reason that the mechanical wizards on these racing teams might figure out a way to put some tricks in that electronic box. However NASCAR officials are raising the issue to team owners of fuel injected engines possibly in the Truck series as soon as next season, according to one scenario and asking how owners think NASCAR ought to police it. "We think fuel injection is just the right way to go in NASCAR," Pat Suhy, Chevrolet’s NASCAR field director, says. "And it wouldn’t be that difficult. Every other top racing series uses fuel injection. We could put something together in about a week depending on how simple or complex you wanted to do it and then test it for two months or so, and be ready to go."(

How does FORD feel about Fuel Injection. Can't find anything about FORDs views.

I heard that we'll start hearing about the results in about 2 weeks.

Also, I've seen nothing with regards to Ford's opinion on fuel injection. Nothing from Ford Motor Company, Jack Roush, Doug Yates, no one.
