- Newman to run four races at Bristol: #39-Ryan Newman will be attempting the Bristol "grand slam," adding the Friday night NASCAR Nationwide Series race and both halves of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series/NASCAR Whelen Modified Series doubleheader on Wednesday night to his schedule. It will be the first time that a driver will be competing in all three national series races plus a touring series event in the same week. Newman will kick off his week Wednesday evening driving a modified for a team owned by Kevin "Bono" Manion, crew chief of the #1 Bass Pro Shops-Tracker Boats Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Newman will be making his third appearance in a modified, all three for Manion. He finished 20th at New Hampshire in 2008 and 34th there earlier this season. Newman will be joined in the Whelen Modified and Whelen Southern Modified combination race by Kasey Kahne. Kahne finished 31st in this year's New Hampshire Whelen Modified race. AND Three drivers will attempt to run three of the four races: Kyle Busch and Max Papis will run the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series races and Kasey Kahne will run the modified, Nationwide and Sprint Cup races.(8-19-2009)
