The inaugural night race at Atlanta Motor Speedway is scheduled for this Sunday at 7:30 pm and the Wood Brothers and Bill Elliott are excited about it. After strong performances in each of the last five races, the team is headed back to the track and looking to continue their positive trend.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is known for being the fastest track on the Sprint Cup circuit with average lap speeds over 190 miles per hour. It is a 1.54 mile quad-oval with 24 degrees of banking in the corners. This weekend’s race marks the 101st Atlanta Sprint Cup race and its first night race.

The Wood Brothers will be making their 99th Atlanta appearance. The Wood Brothers have enjoyed much success at the track winning 12 times, earning thirty three top 5’s, forty five top 10s and 9 poles.

Like the Wood Brothers, past series champion Bill Elliott is looking forward to racing at what is considered his home track. The Dawsonville, Georgia native will be making his 61st start at Atlanta having earned 5 wins, thirteen top 5’s, nineteen top 10’s and five poles.

The teams take to the track on Saturday for two practices and qualifying and race on Sunday. Live race coverage begins Sunday at 7:00 pm on ESPN.

I hope they have a great weekend! Very Happy
