Gordon believed he had passed David Reutimann after passing the scoring line, but before the caution came out for rain in the Daytona 500. NASCAR later called the race because of rain. Gordon crew chief Steve Letarte discussed the situation with NASCAR officials after the race to learn about the interpretation, which was that NASCAR will only use video on the final scheduled lap or green-white-checkered situation. I don't know about that. Jeff is one of the closest in popularity to Jr, although I would have to say Tony Stewart would be the only one to even come close to him.

Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, and Tony Stewart are all pretty close in popularity. JR is eons ahead of all of them, though.

I understand this. A caution came out for rain, NASCAR had no idea that they would be red flagging or ending the race at that time.
