EGR to Toyota? Empty

Quote :
EGR to Toyota? Once #1-Martin Truex Jr. announces that he's driving for Michael Waltrip Racing next month, where does that leave Earnhardt Ganassi Racing? With #42-Juan Pablo Montoya. But after GM dramatically reduced its assistance to EGR last week, is now the time that Chip Ganassi bolts to Toyota? One hot rumor swirling around the garage was a partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing to run Montoya in a fourth car similar to the situation that Marcos Ambrose has with MWR. On Sunday, JGR president J.D. Gibbs said, "No, no, no...," but the guess is his bottom line could say "yes".(FoxSports)(6-23-2009)

I could see this happening since the 1 team seems to be doomed for next year. Wink

JPM is running well, so this would make sense. Keep him & sponsor Target in competitive equipment while basically shutting EGR down.

Juan has done a very good job. If they go down to just his car, it's going to hurt in the big scheme of things.

A one-car team would certainly spell trouble, but if they are able to work out a deal and make the 42 in essence a 4th JGR car, I think it would work.

The Speed Report said last night that EGR is expected to announce a sponsor for Aric Almirola for the rest of the season in a few weeks.
Getting him ready to replace Truex next year, I expect...
